Early Neutral Evaluation
What is Early Neutral Evaluation?
Early Neutral Evaluation (ENE)is a new type of court process. If you appear before a judge shortly after you have filed your paperwork, the judge might ask you whether you want to participate in this process.
How does ENE work?
In ENE, you and your significant other meet with a two person team, one is a lawyer (me) and the other is a person who has background in psychology, counseling, or child development. One team member is a man and the other is a woman.
The ENE team listens to each of you talk about your situation, asks questions, and then makes general recommendations. You and your significant other are then encouraged to use those recommendations in putting together your own parenting schedule.
ENE's typically last between three and four hours. There is a predetermined fee that is paid at the beginning of the session.
If ENE is successful, a "Memorandum of Agreement " is signed by you and your significant other. The two of you will then have to convert this into a court document
If you have a lawyer, your lawyer can be involved in this process.
